Krishi Siksha Diwas observed at ICAR RC for NEH Region, Umiam on 3rd December, 2016

 

To commemorate the significance of agricultural education in the country, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Umiam celebrated the Krishi Siksha Diwas (Agriculture Education Day) on 3rd December 2016 in D.N Borthakur Conference Hall. Dr. Satish Chandra, Director-In-Charge, ICAR RC for NEH Region, who chaired over the event, highlighted the growing importance of quality education in different agriculture and allied subjects. Various events like slogan writing, poster making and debate competition, with topics relevant to the present scenario of agricultural education, were held during the day long celebration. Students of B.Voc in Agriculture from Tata Institute of Social Sciences-School of Vocational Education, Guwahati and other research scholars from ICAR RC for NEH Region participated in the aforementioned events. More than 80 participants altogether in the competitions have brought out innovative ideas from young minds on enhancing the effectiveness of agricultural education. The winners of the various competitions were awarded with certificates and prizes to encourage their enthusiasm. Dr. Arnab Sen, PS & HoD, Division of Animal Health and convener of the event, in his vote of thanks, praised the young and emerging students in the field of agriculture and also appraised the innumerable scopes therein. The event was coordinated by a committee led by Dr.A.K Tripathi, PS &HoD, Division of Social Sciences.
